About me
I am a Creative Arts Practitioner with a background in Art History and therapeutic arts practice, offering gentle, person-centred creative sessions that support reflection, wellbeing, and connection.
I completed a double major in Art History at The University of Queensland, which continues to shape my understanding of art as storytelling, symbolism, culture, and human experience. This perspective informs the way I use creative processes to support reflection, meaning-making, and personal insight.
My work uses art as a reflective and regulating space for individuals experiencing anxiety, trauma, memory changes, caregiving, and life transitions. Creativity offers a way to explore thoughts and feelings when words are difficult, supporting calm, clarity, and connection.
I hold a Diploma in Creative Arts (Art & Health pathway) and continue to develop my practice through evidence-informed approaches, grounded in warmth, safety, and practical support.
Sessions are calm, respectful, and paced to the individual. You do not need to be artistic or experienced in art — only open to the process. The focus is not on creating a perfect piece, but on exploration, reflection, and personal meaning.
Artful Journey was created to provide a safe and accessible space where creativity supports wellbeing, memory, reflection, and life storytelling.
These sessions support wellbeing and personal reflection and are not a replacement for psychological or medical treatment, but can be used alongside counselling, psychology, or other health supports.
This space is open to people from all walks of life, including carers, older adults, veterans, and those navigating anxiety, trauma, memory changes, or life transitions.
I am a Tier 2 member of ANZACATA (Australian, New Zealand and Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association), and my work is art therapy–informed within a wellbeing and reflective practice framework.

Where Creativity Meets the Mind
From the moment we begin creating visual art, our minds naturally start to make meaning. Colours, shapes, and textures become a quiet language through which thoughts and feelings can gently emerge - often in ways that are difficult to express with words alone.
In creative therapeutic art sessions, we sometimes begin with a short meditation or guided visualisation to help settle the mind and step away from the constant mental noise of daily life. As the creative process unfolds, attention shifts from overthinking to curiosity and exploration. The artwork becomes a quiet conversation between the mind, emotions, and imagination.
Within this space, people often discover new perspectives, unexpected insights, or simply a sense of calm and clarity. The focus is never on creating a perfect piece of art, but on allowing the creative process to open a gentle pathway for reflection, insight, and understanding. Many people also find it helpful to keep a small journal alongside their creative work. Writing or sketching after a session can help capture thoughts, feelings, or insights that arise through the creative process, allowing reflection to continue beyond the session itself. Sessions are inclusive, gentle, and tailored to the individual — whether you are seeking calm, connection, reflection, or support through change.

How Creative Therapeutic Art Works
Ten Frequently asked Questions: Understanding how Therapeutic art works.
Therapeutic creative art is a gentle process that uses creative activities such as painting, drawing, collage, or simple craft to support wellbeing. The focus is not on creating a perfect artwork, but on the experience of exploring thoughts, feelings, and ideas through creativity in a safe and supportive environment.
Creative expression can help people slow down, reflect, and process experiences in a different way than talking alone. Many people find that creative activities help them relax, gain new perspectives, and connect with emotions or memories that are sometimes difficult to express in words.
Not at all. No artistic experience is needed. Therapeutic creative art is about exploration rather than skill. Simple shapes, colours, or textures can be just as meaningful as detailed artwork. Many people who say they are “not creative” discover that the process becomes enjoyable and freeing.
Sessions usually begin with a relaxed conversation and an introduction to a creative activity. Short meditations and visualisations may be used to relax and inspire you prior to commencing. You are invited to explore materials such as paint, pencils, collage, or other mediums. There is no pressure to create anything in a particular way. The session moves at your own pace, with space to reflect on the creative process if you wish.
That is completely fine. Everyone has different preferences. You are welcome to explore the materials that feel comfortable for you, whether that is painting, drawing, collage, or other simple creative activities. The process is flexible and adapted to suit each person.
Sharing is always optional. Some people enjoy talking about their artwork and experiences, while others prefer to focus quietly on the creative process. There is no pressure to discuss anything you are not comfortable sharing.
No. You are welcome to try a session without any obligation to continue. Some people attend occasionally for reflection and relaxation, while others choose to return more regularly. The approach is flexible and guided by what feels helpful for you.
People explore therapeutic creative art for many different reasons. It can support stress relief, emotional reflection, life transitions, caregiving experiences, personal growth, and simply taking time to reconnect with creativity and self-expression.
A range of simple creative materials may be used, including paints, pencils, pastels, collage papers, clay and other tactile materials. The emphasis is on experimentation and curiosity rather than technical skill.
Your first session is designed to be welcoming and relaxed. We will spend some time getting to know each other and exploring a simple creative activity together. Many people choose to begin with a non-obligation introductory session, which allows you to experience the process and decide whether it feels right for you.
